GOOD BYE OLD FRIEND

Barry Kirkpatrick was a mainstay at KMEC radio for well over a decade; many KMEC DJ’s were trained by Barry. He took charge of the “Analog Room” at KMEC where he had a collection of old vinyl LP’s from the rock era. It was also the studio from where he pumped out the popular ‘old time’ radio shows with ‘noir’ detective stories and bygone comics.

Barry himself was an accomplished guitarist, and could rock with them all. At a beautiful party with family and friends in September, Barry played his last riffs - and his performance was dynamite despite his weakened condi- tion. It was a poignant evening, with son Barry Jr. on the drums, brother Yanahay on the base, sister Mary on vocals - and his sister Lisa in front, clapping.

He was the maitre d’ at the old Ukiah Brew Pub back when it was owned by the Cooperriders and was ‘tribal.’ There was music back then, and Barry was part of the house band with Sid and Billy. We will remember you and all the great times you brought us.
